Cristian Orozco — A Vision for the Future
Cristian Orozco today. After years of helping build León's skateboarding community, he continues to dream about what comes next.
It has been a real pleasure getting to know Cristian over the past few months. I have witnessed his determination, his commitment to the community, and his passion for skateboarding. I hope you, too, have enjoyed getting to know Cristian and the real skaters of León.
Looking Ahead
My dream is to continue supporting the Nicaraguan skateboarding community. I hope to help build another skatepark and eventually open a skate school where younger skaters can learn.
I also want to fulfill another dream—to have my own skate shop and sewing workshop where I can continue developing the DISASTER brand.
And someday, I hope to visit Europe and other parts of the world.
The Future of Skateboarding in León
I've always believed skateboarding in León has a bright future. What we need now is more support and more events that inspire younger generations to become both better skaters and better people.
Today there are more Nicaraguan skate brands helping the community, and I believe the future is moving in the right direction.
A Message to the Next Generation
Cristian Orozco with two of León's younger skaters. One of his greatest hopes is to see the next generation discover the same opportunities that skateboarding gave him.
Conversations like these are part of León's skateboarding culture. Older skaters share encouragement, experience, and friendship with those just beginning their journey.
Follow your dreams with discipline, and keep God beside you. Nothing is impossible.
Be good people.
Help those who are younger than you.
Enjoy the life that skateboarding can give you.
Closing Thoughts
Five weeks ago, I simply wanted to learn about the history of skateboarding in León.
Instead, I found a community.
I found people who share their skateboards.
People who encourage younger skaters.
People who create opportunities where none existed before.
Through Cristian's story, I discovered that skateboarding in León is not simply about tricks.
It is about perseverance.
Creativity.
Friendship.
Faith.
And passing those things to the next generation.
His story may be ending here...
But the story of León's skateboard community is only beginning.
When I sent Cristian three final questions, he didn’t reply right away. Several days later, he apologized.
"I’ve been really busy with work," he wrote. "I wanted to answer them sincerely."
Those words struck me as the perfect way to wrap up this series.
