The Decision to Write Again

My second completed novel. Writing The Challenge of the Heart wasn't about proving I could finish another book. It was about discovering there was another story waiting to be told.

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. 📖 Proverbs 16:3

Finishing The Little Chef answered one question.

I had proven to myself that I could finish a novel.

But another question quietly took its place.

"Should I write another one?"

No one was asking me to.

I wasn't thinking about becoming an author.

I simply wondered if there was another story worth telling.

That question became The Challenge of the Heart.

Unlike my first novel, this time I wasn't trying to prove I could finish.

I was learning that writing wasn't about checking something off a list.

It was becoming part of who I was.

Looking back now, I realize God was gently changing my direction one book at a time.

I couldn't see where the road would eventually lead—to León, to the skateboard community, to Miraflor, or to Mateo and the Secrets of the Eternal Word.

I only knew there was another story waiting.

So I began writing again.
